With a rapid development of the modern industry, the issue of energy resources is becoming an essential part of the economic development of countries all over the globe as well as of people’s everyday life. It would not be an exaggeration if it is said that the future of a country depends on securing energy resources and related technology. Hence, the government is preparing a comprehensive and concrete R&D goal to organize the 2nd National Basic Plan for Energy/ Resources Research and Development and establishing technical strategies to retain oil and gas reserves and strategic minerals such as rare minerals and energy minerals (uranium, bituminous coal). To keep pace with its plan, the government has been selecting “specialized universities for resource development” and operating them in a bid to systematically support individuals who will contribute in developing resources.

Selected as a specialized university for resource development in 2009 and 2014, the Department of Energy&Resources Engineering at Inha University teaches fossil energy, exploration, development, and production of resources, and engineer mining hazard prevention as well as unconventional energy resources – an important source of energy for the future, and resource economics and policies. The ultimate goal of the department is to cultivate knowledgeable and creative global leaders. We will produce globally competitive students through special programs including overseas internship program, exchange student program, overseas working experience program, and undergraduate research group program.
